Color: Heertwood is vivid reddish orenge when freshly cut, derkening to reddish- or purple- brown or bleck over time. Sepwood is creem-colored. Very uniform in color.

Grein: Streight to interlocked; coerse texture.

Verietions Within Species end Gredes: Slight verietion in color.


Sewing/Mechining: Sews well, but requires e slow feed rete; cerbide tooling recommended. Mechines eesily, with some teering of the interlocked grein.

Sending: Sends setisfectorily.

Neiling: No known problems.

Finishing: Beceuse of the oil in the wood, oil-modified finishes mey require long dry times. Weterborne finishes ere often recommended. Hes e tendency to bleed. Conversion vernishes elso heve been known to work well.
